Genentech's Drug Metabolism & Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) department is dedicated to enabling the discovery, development and commercialization of safe and effective medicines by elucidating the absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and pharmacokinetic properties of small molecule drug candidates. We accomplish this through the application of state of the art technologies and sciences of bioanalysis, drug metabolism, drug transport and pharmacokinetics. The DMPK group works in close partnership with disciplines such as medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, toxicology, pharmaceutical sciences, clinical pharmacology and regulatory to optimize leads, select clinical candidates, conduct preclinical development studies, support clinical evaluation and contribute to IND and NDA filings.
We are seeking an experienced in vitro scientist with proven capability to conduct various in-vitro ADME assays including metabolic stability, protein binding and DDI studies such as CYP inhibition and induction. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of various DMPK topics including drug metabolizing enzymes & transporters, in addition to hands on experience in conducting various in vitro ADME studies and data interpretation. They will be highly motivated, be able to work independently and collaboratively, and have excellent organizational and reporting skills (verbal and written). The successful candidate will work closely with our established team in the Small Molecule DMPK Department, performing both routine and mechanistic in vitro studies to support drug discovery and early development. To accomplish this, the successful individual must have hands-on experience in LC-MS/MS and in vitro ADME data processing as well as strong biological lab skills such as enzyme kinetic studies, cell culture and assay automation.
Who you are:
- B.S./M.S. in Chemistry/Biological Sciences or a related field with at least 6 years of relevant experience in applying in vitro DMPK concepts to lead optimization and early drug development
- Practical hands-on bench experience in LC-MS/MS method development and trouble shooting
- Solid understanding of drug metabolism and enzyme kinetics
- Hands on experience designing and running in vitro experiments with subcellular fractions, tissue isolates and primary cells such as hepatocytes.
- Critical thinking and demonstrated in vitro assay trouble shooting
- Highly motivated & enthusiastic, strong interpersonal communication
