Overview

WuXi Biologics has an exciting opportunity for an Director of Corporate Development located in Palo Alto, California.  Become a key member of the Corporate Development team to drive and help with licensing (in and out), mergers & acquisitions, landscape scouting, strategic planning, and venture investments.

Responsibilities

  • Work with our business development team and R&D to identify key pharma and biotech companies in the US that may benefit from WuXiBody technology platform. Initiate contact, drive negotiation and execution of the projects in collaboration with the internal discovery team
  • Scout for potential technologies and opportunities to in-license
  • Assist managing the M&A process
  • Collect market, business and technical info and develop business insight
  • Develop strategic business partnerships such as joint ventures
  • Help to develop a 3 to 5 year strategic plan for the company
  • Manage office operations, events and conferences
  • Any other activities requested by the management

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or above (MBA preferred) with 5+ years of experience in US biotech, global pharma, management consulting or investment with an undergraduate degree in biology, chemistry or engineering related field
  • Have direct experience in or solid understanding of drug discovery and development processes, particularly biologics drug development processes, including but not limited to discovery, clinical development, manufacturing, supply chain etc.
  • Strong analytical, project management and communication skills.
  • Experienced in financial modeling and preparing presentations for the internal senior management team and client executives
  • Have established a network of business and professional contacts in the industry
  • A solid licensing, collaboration and/or M&A deal sheet preferred
  • Hard working, energetic, curious. A quick learner with entrepreneur spirit and “can do” attitude. Willing to adapt to a fast-paced working environment with a sense of urgency to meet timelines
  • Strong people skills and willing to mentor junior members
  • Some knowledge of Mandarin preferred but not required
  • This position could be either a Director or an Associate Director role, depending on candidates’ experience
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time
