This position has a 75% research and 25% teaching responsibility. The successful candidate will function as a member of the Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences in the College of Agricultural Sciences and the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences of The Pennsylvania State University. The faculty member will develop a strong, high profile independent research program supported by extramural funding to generate novel discoveries on the impact of the microbiome on mucosal immunology. Expertise in both mucosal immunology and the microbiome is highly desirable. The individual is also expected to collaborate in research with diverse investigators in the Department, College and other units of the university. The successful individual will take a leadership position in a growing Microbiome Center of Excellence within the Huck Institutes of Life Sciences (https://www.huck.psu.edu/content/research/microbiome-center). In addition, the individual will be encouraged to participate in several ongoing initiatives including the Center for Molecular Immunology and Infectious Disease (http://vbs.psu.edu/research/centers/cmiid), the Center for Infectious Disease Dynamics, and the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences (http://www.huck.psu.edu).
